Avevo spedito un’email di cui mi ero completamente dimenticato ad un sito che raccoglie le memorie dei prigionieri di guerra per far aggiungere le informazioni storiche che avevo raccolto sulla loro pagina in modo tale che potessero essere d’aiuto a tutti. Questa è stata la risposta (dopo 9 mesi):

Grazie mille per l’e-mail. Mi scuso se hai dovuto attendere molto per avere risposta. Per alcuni anni la gestione dei miei siti web Prisoner of War è stata interamente compito di una sola persona. Ora vengo aiutato nel rispondere alle e-mail indirizzate al sito web Lamsdorf.com, ma finora non ho potuto trovare alcun ausilio con l’Italia riguardo i prigionieri di guerra e altri siti web. Inevitabilmente cresce l’arretrato di e-mail senza risposta. Oltre a questo, dopo 17 anni, a causa della vecchiaia, delle considerazioni personali come la famiglia e la salute, ho deciso che devo ritirarmi dal progetto e consegnarlo (si spera) ad altri che condividono il mio stesso entusiasmo per questa area di ricerca storica. Penso che sia improbabile – e probabilmente poco saggio – aspettarsi che una persona assuma tutto il controllo, ed è per questo che spero di reclutare una squadra per assumere i vari compiti, in modo da ridurre il lavoro del singolo. Come ho detto, ora ho una piccola squadra che risponde alle e-mail per il sito web Lamsdorf.com, e non solo inviano risposte, ma inseriscono anche il sito web, i nomi e le informazioni POW che ricevono. Per favore fatemi sapere se volete unirvi a un team simile per gestire le email di Stalag.org. Sarò molto grato per ogni aiuto che viene offerto. Verranno fornite istruzioni complete. Nel frattempo, tutte le email di attesa saranno conservate fino al momento in cui possono essere elaborate. I had sent an email that I had completely forgotten to a site that collects memories of prisoners of war to add the historical information I had collected on their page. This was the answer (after 9 months):

Thank you very much for your email. I do apologise if you have had a long wait for a reply.

For some years managing my Prisoner-of-War websites has been entirely a one-man task. I now have some help with answering the emails directed at the Lamsdorf.com website, but so far I have not been able to recruit help with the POWs Italy and the other websites. Inevitably the backlog of unanswered emails is growing.

As well as this, after 17 years, because of creeping old age, family and health considerations I have decided that I must retire from the project, and hand it on (hopefully) to others who share my enthusiasm for this area of historical research.

I think it is unlikely – and probably unwise – to expect one person to take on everything, and this is why am hoping to recruit a team to take on the various tasks that are involved, so that nothing becomes too much for anyone. As I have said, I now have a small team answering emails for the Lamsdorf.com website, and they not only send replies but also enter onto the website, the POW names and information that they receive.

Please let me know if you would like to join a similar team to deal with the Stalag.org emails. I will be very grateful for any help that is offered. Full instructions will be given of course.

In the meantime, all the waiting emails will be held until such time as they can be processed.
